Housing crisis. Rising living costs. Safety in the city. Transport cuts.
Students in Amsterdam face real challenges and the upcoming municipal elections will shape how the city responds to these issues.
On March 16 from 13:00–14:30 in the E-Hall, party leaders from Bij1, CDA, GroenLinks, D66, PvdA, and VVD will take the stage at UvA for The Big Election Debate.
Through real student stories, we will confront politicians with the issues that matter most to students living and studying in Amsterdam:
• finding affordable housing
• paying for studies and daily life
• feeling safe in the city
• accessible transport and infrastructure
Each section of the debate begins with a real-life student case, followed by statements where party leaders must show where they stand before explaining their plans. Expect direct questions, sharp follow-ups, and a chance for the audience to challenge the politicians themselves.
Two days before the municipal elections, this debate offers a rare opportunity to hear what the parties actually propose for students and to hold them accountable.
Join us, ask questions, and decide where you stand.
