We will focus on the recent developments in Hungary, as the country pivots towards an autocratic government which curtails freedom of speech, destroys the system of checks and balances, and promotes xenophobia. We hope to address the effectiveness of the EU response as well through the specific role of the EUP in launching an Article 7 process and the subsequent response of the EU commission and the Member States.
